Former senator Miriam Defensor Santiago dies at age 71

On Thursday morning, former Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago died at age 71 due to lung cancer. The information was learned through her husband, Atty. Jun Santiago.
"She died peacefully in her sleep this morning," Santiago said. Miriam Santiago revealed in 2014 that she had stage 4 lung cancer.
Her official Twitter account posted a message midmorning that former Sen. Santiago died at 8:52 a.m.
