Was it Race That Drives Obama to Victory?
This was the question that everyone did ask after former US Congresswoman Geraldine Ferraro made a remark about the movement that put Barrack Obama on the forefront of the United States Democratic Campaign for the Presidency.
In an interview Friday with the Daily Breeze newspaper, she was quoted as saying that Obama's success revealed the "very sexist" attitudes of the media. "And if he was a woman -- of any color -- he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept," Ferraro said.
With this it can be deduced that there is still some racial discrimination in the United States which effectively emancipates everyone and promoted equality. After all, Dr. Martin Luther King gave his life for this cause.
Obama was drawing voes from overwhelming majority from blacks which some analysts says makes white choose Hilary Clinton more easily. Was it race that drives Obama to his strings of victory or was it the need to effect change in America?
Clinton and McCain are choices which had been tried before. Hilary Clinton is an alter ego of her husband Bill while McCain is seen as a chep clone of George Bush.
