Pioneer Innovative Straw Hats is Pride of Baliuag, Bulacan
Last April 28 to May 11, 2008, Baliuag Buntal Hat Festival was held at the town Gloriettawith about 45 exhibitors of various crafts and trades. The event was covered by ABS-CBN Umagang Kay Ganda and telecast live during the festival. The main theme of the event was to promote the known Buntal Straw Hat which has its origin from this town.
The innovative buntal straw hat was revived by the great grandson of the pioneer weaver, ImpongDolores Maniquis. His name is Marc de Borja, President of Far East Straw Hats Corporation. Thiscompany has its Display Office at Sta. Barbara, Baliuag, Bulacan. The booth of the exhibitor wasvisited by Mayor Romy Estrella during the festival and he saw the quality straw hat as worn by the models.
