DepEd and G-Watch Unites for Textbook Walk for Mindanao
Brtherhood of Destiny (BROOD) had long hailed the dedication done for the service of the youth and school children by the Government Watch or G-Watch. They had been part of Textbook Count which was also by DepEd and G-Watch. The latest noteworthy activity and deed by the Philippine Department of Education and G-watch is the delivery of new textbooks to Barangay Salansang in Sultan Kudarat. Parents and teachers welcomed the arrival of the new books with a colorful parade featuring music and dancing that fused elements from their Tiruray and Manobo heritage with modern influences.
Textbook Walk was a supplementary component of Textbook Count developed and pilot-tested by G-Watch in 2006 and adopted by DepEd officially in 2007. The program mobilizes the community to assist the DepEd in bringing the textbooks from DepEd district offices to far-flung elementary schools.
