Alliance of Civilizations launches Youth Website contest

On the occasion of International Youth Day, the Alliance of Civilizations is launching a logo contest for its upcoming Youth Website. The Alliance of Civilizations sees young people as an essential asset that plays a critical role in addressing the challenges that may come from cultural and religious diversity. Young people are crucial actors in advancing the work of the Alliance of Civilizations as they are the main stakeholders of societies that are increasingly free from stereotypes, discrimination and extremism.

In this spirit, the AoC is calling on youth from around the world to submit logos for the upcoming AoC Youth Website. In addition, youth are asked to vote for their favorite taglines for this website. Tagline options as well as more details about this contest are available here.

The AoC is building a website entirely dedicated to amplifying the voices and contributions of young people in building harmonious societies. Set to launch on International Peace Day on 21 September, this website will include information about organizations, opportunities and tools available to youth interested in AoC-related themes. This website will also feature information about the AoC’s Youth Program, an on-line discussion forum, quotes from youth, news, and various other sections.

While the AoC has developed the basic structure for this website, youth organizations around the world will populate it with information, share thoughts on the discussion forum, draft quotes and news.

The winning tagline as well as the name of the winning logo’s author will be announced on the main AoC website as well as on the Youth Website by mid-October 2009. A permanent mention of the winner’s name will remain on the Youth Website after this official announcement.

The deadline for submitting your vote and/or logo is 28 September 2009, 5PM, EST.
