Marian Rivera as Darna/Narda Premiers on GMA 7
Darna, the original Filipino superhero will premier, Monday, August 10 with Marian Rivera as the newest Darna. Darna had been in the Filipino heroes catalogue for so long since she is the first one. Darna was first seen in komiks way back I think during the 50's. Series of movies was then made to depict her character and some of the most prominent actresses portray the role, among them are Nida Blanca, Vilma Santos, Nanette Medved and in television the last was Angel Locsin.

Will Marian Rivera's portrayal be acceptable to the Darna fans? Will the new story line just be another rendition of the same old story of Darna that was told over and over again.
Well, as to the enemies, most of them are the same like Valentina, Babaeng Linta and Babaeng Tuod. It seems that Darna fails to evolve into new era or the creators are afraid that moving Darna forward into a new story line might end up in a flop.
The list of enemies includes: Iwa Moto as her main nemesis Valentina, Nadine Samonte as Babaeng Impakta, Francine Prieto as Babaeng Tuod, Ehra Madrigal as Babaeng Lawin and Margaret "Maggie" Wilson as Babaeng Linta.
In previous roles, Marian Rivera's shows which includes Marimar and Dyesabel had enjoyed highest ratings in Philippine Television so let's expect Darna to do the same.
