Millions of Filipino Joins Cory Aquino Funeral
The Requiem mass for the late President Corazon "Cory" Cojuangco-Aquino started at 9:00am and ended around 11:00am. It was a ceremony very solemn and really shows the way of life Cory lived for. The homily in the mass calls the Filipino people to wake up and live by the example of the former President.
Cory's Funeral Cortege left Manila Cathedral at around 11:00 a.m after a 21 gun salute was given to the former President. The cortege went through an endless sea of people who wants to see Cory Aquino for the last time and until the time of the writing of this post, they are still far from the burial ground.
People by the thousand gather across the streets of Metro Manila. At one time crowd reaches around 100,000. People experience rain, exhaustion, hunger and other but they never falter in wanting to show their love for the former president. GMA 7 reported around 15 people who suffered from exhaustion. Thanks to the Volunteer Red Cross who are always ready to assist.
The EDSA miracle and Cory magic is happening again as people share food and water and even business establishments gave free food. The Cory family was not feeling the hunger as they even admitted that few of them had breakfast and not a single of them had lunch.
Yellow confetti rain across the streets lined-up with people dress in Cory's traditional yellow color.
Meanwhile, Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo visited the wake of former President Cory earlier in the morning upon her arrival from the United States. Her visit lasted only 7-minutes. She left upon knowing that the public viewing was stopped.
