A Bird in Defense of Territory
What would you do if someone invaded your territory? Naturally you would do all you can to protect it. That is the story behind the photo taken by Pat Gaines, a Westminster scientist who helps develop vaccines and tests used in veterinary medicine.
The photo tells of the story of red-tailed hawks suddenly appearing on a known western kingbirds' territory. The hawks were not there to attack but just to do their regular routines, however the kingbirds were upset.
As a result they drove the red-taled hawks away from the territory, chase them off, and some rode at their back and peak on their heads while the hawks tries desperately to run away.
A typical story of defending a territory and a good reason also to preserve the environment.
