Alert Earthquakes Today: Southern California Earthquake
Several regions of Southern California was hit by an earthquake ranging from magnitude 4.5 to as high as magnitude 5.9. A seismologist from Caltech in Pasadena, Kate Hutton says although the quake was something very noticeable, they see no structural damage from the quake since the state of California has the toughest building code.
The Southern California earthquake was particularly strong in San Diego causing a temporary stoppage to the game between the Padres and the Toronto Blue Jays for several minutes in the 8th inning at Petco Park.
U.S. Geological Survey says that quake might be an aftershock of the Earthquake last April registering more than 7 at the Richter scale. The quake's center is identified to be five miles southeast of Ocotillo in San Diego County and 16 miles east-northeast of Jacumba in eastern San Diego County.
Minor quakes were also felt ranging from 1.0 to 4.1 magnitude. No immediate casualties were reported and officials says that it is highly unlikely that there will be a casualty. The quake occurred at around 9:26pm.
