Google Celebrates Philippine Independence Day
The phenomenal Google Doodle images give tribute to the 112th Philippine Independence Day. The featured Google image on the main page features the Philippine flag with the sun forming one of te stars of the word Google.

The declaration of the Philippine Independence was done on June 12, 1898 in Cavite II el Viejo (now Kawit), Cavite, Philippines. Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo raised the first Philippine flag with the public reading the Act of the Declaration of Independence.
This proclamation however was not recognized by Spain and the United States. When the Philippines was given independence on July 5, 1946 it was the official recognition of independence until August 4, 1964.
President Diosdado Macapagal upon the advise of historians signed into law Republic Act No. 4166 designating June 12 as the country's Independence Day. Before that June 12 was only given recognition as Flag Day.
