Germany vs Argentina: Diego Maradona Gets Blitzkrieg from Germans
Cape Town, South Africa - Diego Maradona failed his team in the Argentina vs Germany match. He failed to bring his team to the World Cup Semifinals and redeem himself completely from the ridicule of his fellow Argentinians and of the press.
Fans and analysts are wondering what happened today as Germany outwit, outscored, outdefended, and simply outsmarted the Argentinians. Lionel Messi had not been a factor in this game and it seems like they were utterly a different team.
Right during the 2nd minute they already allowed a goal from Thomas Müller. That goal will later be followed by three more goals courtesy of Miroslav Klose (67', 88') and Arne Friedrich (73'). Team Argentina can't simply find an antidote to the playing tactics shown by the Germans. It's like Blitzkrieg all over again, they were fast and unstoppable, and in the end surprised not only Argentina and Diego Maradona but also fans around the world.
“To lose like that is very painful,” forward Carlos Tevez said. “We played badly and sometimes when you make mistakes you go home.”
Twenty years ago Argentina and Germany had faced each other in back-to-back finals match and since then they had been bitter rivals. Just four years ago the Germans also defeated Argentina in penalty kicks, 5-3 which later ended into an ugly battle outside the football field.
Today it was a clear win for Germany and Diego Maradona and his team can't argue about that. There was no one to blame but themselves.

Germany defeated Argentina with flying colors and they did that in front of superstars outside of football who wanted to see Maradona's team wins. Among those at the game were German chancellor Angela Merkel, Mick Jagger, Leonardo DiCaprio and South Africa’s own Charlize Theron.
The German team proved that scores just meant for video games can happen in real football. Germany has scored four goals in three of its last five games with a combined total of 8-1. That is simply amazing!
