Is It Really The End for The Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels
The Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels delivered a very emotional farewell message after he was defeated by The Undertaker during Wrestlemania XXVI. He said that it is about time to say farewell to WWE, a career which began when he was just 23 years old. HBK is now 44 and with vast injuries and others, many said including WWE that it was the best time to retire.
Shawn Michaels in his birthday celebration had not spoken a word about any return, nor was there any fun fare or celebrity buzz about the celebration. It looks like The Heartbreak Kid has really retired.
Triple H, a close friend of The Heartbreak Kid believes otherwise. He says that Shawn Michaels might still agree to what he said during Wrestlemania XXVI but still manage to return to the WWE, this time on-screen and not on-ring. This perhaps might bring us to see The Heartbreak Kid as a commentator for WWE, which for fans is not very pleasing.
Early last week there were also rumors circulating about Shawn Michaels frustration over how the WWE treated the whole Bryan Danielson situation. He said that there had been a growing rift between the Heartbreak Kid and the Chairman of the Board of WWE.
However, another online source said that there was no rift between Michaels and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon either due to Danielson or about his retirement on WWE. WWE said that they "understands that at 45 and amount of injuries sustained throughout his career, that they understood it was time for Shawn to ultimately call it a career."
For those who want to relive Wrestlemania XXVI you can watch the primetime broadcast on NBC on August 7, 2010, Saturday at 9 pm ET / 8 pm CT.
