It was a Ultimate Fighting Championsip (UFC) battle that started with Chael Sonnen giving fighting words against Anderson Silva saying that he will end the reign of the UFC Middleweight Champion. The battle between the two lasted for five rounds and in the end Anderson Silva became the victor.
The UFC UFC 117 fight between Anderson Silva and Chael SonnenSilva was held at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, August 7. Many anticipated that it would be an exciting match and none of the two will easily give in and indeed that is what happened when the fight started.
Silva came rushing at Sonnen on Round 5 and he never gave the challenger any chance of pinning him. Then at 3:10 of round 5, Silva initiated the triangle choke successfully and Sonnen and this forced him to tap out. Silva won and retained his UFC Middleweight Championship. This was only one of three fights in UFC history to end in the 5th round. The others were Randy Couture vs. Ricco Rodriguez at UFC 36, and B. J. Penn vs. Diego Sanchez at UFC 107.
