Advocacy Group Supports the Stand of President Aquino III on Family Planning and Reproductive Health Rights

The Philippine NGO Council on Population, Health and Welfare Inc. (PNGOC) hails President Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino III for taking a firm stand in support of family planning and reproductive health rights. “This is the moment we have been waiting for; Now that the President has been vocal on his stand on responsible parenthood despite the Catholic Church's opposition to the use of artificial birth control methods, I do not see any reason for why the reproductive health bill this 15th Congress, under his administration will not pass” said by Dr. Eden Divinagracia, PNGOC Executive Director.

PNGOC together with all its member organizations strongly supports the president in allowing the couples to be the ultimate decision-maker on the size of the family.

Dr. Divinagracia said that we need to give the couples the option to plan their family by giving them complete and wide array of information and services including all methods of contraception.

PNGOC continues to support the government in addressing poverty and achieving sustainable economic growth through an effective population management and reproductive health care program.
