FIBA World Championship 2010 Finals: USA vs Turkey
FIBA World Championship 2010 Finals: USA vs Turkey - Team USA is a game away from reclaiming the FIBA Championship as they face host team Turkey in the finals. The USA have not won nor have they reached the FIBA World Championship finals since 1994. The question now is can they do it? Will Kevin Durant and the neophyte NBA players do it?
Kevin Durant is definitely the star player in this team. During the last two crucial games of the team Durant explored with more than 30 points. In the last game with undefeated Lithuania, Durant exploded with 38 points, with 17 of those in the first quarter. Duran now holds the new American single-game record at the FIBA World Championship. Carmelo Anthony held the mark previously with 35 against Italy in 2006.
Turkey was tested by Serbia in their Semifinals game and they nearly lost. It was thanks to Kerem Tunceri’s lay-up that made the difference. Turkey was down 82-81 with 4.3 second to play. Bogdan Tanjevic’s men inbounded the ball to Hedo Turkoglu, who lost control on the left wing, but Tunceri got to the ball first and was a step ahead of the defenders as he drove hard to the hole for the biggest basket of his career.
Serbia will battle Lithuania for third place.
