Cosplay Mania X Celebrates 10 Years of Cosplay in the Philippines
If you love gaming, Anime, movies and characters then you should have not missed Cosplay Mania X. Cosplay Mania X or CMX is an event organized by Cosplay.ph together with sponsors and partners to celebrate ten years of Cosplay in the Philippines. About 200-400 Cosplayers attended the two day event at the SMX Convention Center at SM Mall of Asia.
Cosplay Mania X features Cosplay competition, Cosplay Snapshot Contest, Costume Building Contest, National Tournament of Champions Finals, exhibit booths, lots of freebies, and many many more. The Tournament of Champions was really pretty good and the costumes of the finalists wee very elaborate. They had also invested a lot of time in the skit that they presented.
A Cosplay group also won 1,000USD for the Animax Asia video competition. Several videos were submitted and people were asked to vote online for their favorite video. Here is the winning video for Animax's "Lights, Camera, Cosplay."
Three of our staff also joined the exciting Cosplay event. I cosplayed as Kakuzu from Akatsuki in the Anime series Naruto while Rio Rose Magpayo cosplayed as Konan and John Dwight D'Angelo cosplayed as Pain, all from Akatsuki of Naruto.
There are lots of Naruto characters during the event and perhaps the most common character was Uzumaki Naruto and Ichigo from Bleach. Well, there were also a lot of Akatsuki cosplayers. Mei Santiago, our Associate Editor also joined the event as one of our photo journalists on site together with Enzo Luna.
Attendees to the event were also given lots of freebies including a free Slurpee from 7-11, although some are confused since the ticket says that you are supposed to receive ten Slurpees. There were also CD installers of new free to play games. Sulit.com.ph and My Phone also presented a raffle which you can avail of some premium items like baller IDs, keychains, fans and more.
There were also costume boots, wig booths, contact lenses shop, anime DVD and episode shop and more. Sony, RedFox and Brother were also there to present their latest products. These three companies are major sponsors of this years Cosplaymania X.
Near the end of the program the Facebook raffle was made and prizes given away included brand new mobile phones and a brand new Playstation 3.
It is indeed one great Cosplay event and thanks to Cosplay.ph for giving us an opportunity to be part of it.
