Google Doodle Celebrates Earth Day 2011
April 22 is Earth Day. Most of us might be asking what's the occasion being celebrated by Google in their Google Doodle today, well the straight answer really is because it's Earth Day and it also falls on a Good Friday this year. I hope that it does not mean the death of the beautiful environment for I want to see it as a possible resurrection of our beautiful planet.
Earth Day is being celebrated to inspire awareness of our environment as was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson way back on April 22, 1970. The first Earth Day celebration was launched in 1990 and was participated by 141 nations. Earth Day Network became the global Earth Day coordinator. Today, Earth Day is being celebrated in more than 175 countries annually.
It is not too late to do something good for the Earth today and hopefully in our everyday life. You can check out "Earth Day 2011: A Billion Acts of Green" which is this year's Earth Day theme. The campaign aims to generate a billion acts of environmental service and advocacy before Rio +20.
We are inviting our readers to share their environmental tips by commenting on this post. For us, here are some tips for our dear readers.
- Use energy saving equipment and lighting
- Turn-off unused power and appliance

HAPPY EARTH DAY EVERYONE! We hope that Google Doodle is not the only one celebrating Earth Day 2011.
