Photo Exhibit for the World at 7Billion
31st October 2011, Philippines
On 31 October 2011, world population will reach 7 billion. This global milestone presents a challenge, an opportunity, and a call to action. Whether we can live together on a healthy planet will depend on the choices that we make now. In the Philippines, about two million babies are born every year, increasing demand for resources to address everyone’s needs such as food, shelter, education and healthcare.
We ask you: What does it mean to live in a world of 7 billion? Tell us what is your concept of the world at 7 billion – IN PICTURES – and be part of a photo exhibit happening on October 31, 2011, the Day of 7 Billion, at the SM Mall of Asia. Start sending your pictures with title, caption and your personal details to emeelei@gmail.com . Subjects of the photos should be about the following: (1) Poverty, (2) Empowerment of women and girls, (3) Youth, (4) Maternal and child health, (5) Environment, (6) Old people, and (7) Urbanization.
Just a few more reminders: The call is open only to Filipino non-professional photographers. Send us only a maximum of three high-resolution pictures in jpeg file (at least 1MB size). We will accept submissions only until Sept. 30, 2011, but we encourage early submission. Metro Manila participants whose photos will be chosen will be invited to the exhibit at the Mall of Asia on Oct. 31. For more inquiries, please e-mail arlene.unfpa@yahoo.com.
