Earthquake hits Cebu City, Philippines
A strong earthquake measuring magnitude 6.9 hits Negros and Cebu, Philippines on February 6, 2012. Iloilo City was also hit by a magnitude 5 and the areas of Kalibo, Aklan; San Jose de Buenavista and Pandan, Antique and Dipolog City felt magnitude 4 according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The February 6, 2012 Cebu earthquake has a depth of 33km, struck the area at 11:49 am. Its epicenter was recorded off 71 km (44 miles) SSE (161°) of Bacolod, Negros, Philippines. Phivolcs has yet to release a bulletin on this latest earthquake which hits the Philippines. The agency however said that damage and aftershocks are expected from the quake.
