THE TRUTH ABOUT 12.21.2012 END OF THE WORLD TODAY
Eventually everyone seems to be brazing themselves for the END OF THE WORLD TODAY, DECEMBER 21, 2012. The actual end of the Mayan calendar as they say happens on 11:11 GMT coinciding with the Solstice. There are those which are afraid and there are those which does not care. The truth is the world had been predicted to end at many times, the year 2000 or the New Millenium was the biggest of them, then again there was one I think during the Iraq war as predicted by Nostradamus. Will the world end on December 21, 2012?
What is the significance of the Mayan Calendar and this date? Well there is a certain research that says that the "Transit of Venue" happening also today plays a significant role in many civilizations and thus on the Mayan Calendar.
The Venus Transit will trigger the demise of the 5th Sun and set the stage for the next cycle, the 6th Sun. That is the physical side of the Maya 5th Sun forecast. Unlike many predictions this one is built into the Maya calendar and it can be verified with some historical research. Is the world going to end in a violent crescendo of natural disasters and impacts from cosmic objects? I do not think that is likely nor is it what the Maya predicted.
It is said that the Mayans regarded the Transit of Venus as "a circuit breaker switching off the sunspot cycle and impacting the Sun-Moon-Earth-Venus system". If that is true then we might have another "little ice age" or a big one. Well no one knows for sure since these are all theories.
Also by today, it will be the start of the 6th Sun which corresponds to a new age. The Mayan's calls this age, "The Fifth Age" while the Aztecs whose calendar coincides with their neighbor calls it the Dawning of “The Sixth Sun.” According to the research these points to a significant turning point of human civilization. What that turning point is remains to be seen.
Another scientific fact:
Significantly the last day of the Mayan calendar corresponds with the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and the Summer Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere which has played a significant role in many cultures all over the world. In pure and simple astronomical terms this winter solstice represents the culmination of a 25,800 year cycle of the precession of the equinoxes. Every 72 years, our planet wobbles on its axis by one degree, hence the zodiac's meandering journey through the cosmos. On this day the winter solstice sun will align with the galactic equator.
Does the Mayan calendar end today? The big answer is NO.The fact that the winter solstice on 2012 is "aligned" with the plane of the Galaxy holds no scientific significance.
- It takes the winter solstice 700-1400 years to cross the plane of the Galaxy.
- The solstice last year (2005) was within 0.1 degrees (or 1/5th the size of the Sun) of where it will be on 2012.
- The Sun crosses the plane of the Milky Way twice every year with no ill effect.
The date December 21st, 2012 A.D. (13.0.0.0.0 in the Long Count), represents an extremely close conjunction of the Winter Solstice Sun with the crossing point of the Galactic Equator (Equator of the Milky Way) and the Ecliptic (path of the Sun), what that ancient Maya recognized as the Sacred Tree. This is an event that has been coming to resonance very slowly over thousands and thousands of years. It will come to resolution at exactly 11:11 am GMT. (That is 7:11pm Philippine Time)
Jose Arguelles has pointed out that the Tzolkin is a harmonic of the Great Cycle, and can be used to map history, as if it is measuring not individual gestation but species gestation, since 5 Great Cycles add to exactly 26,000 Tuns; the "Grand Year" or precession of the equinoxes - a higher harmonic of 260.
NOTE: The astronomer Philip Plait has stated very clearly that the Mayan calendar does not end in 2012 at all, that it is like the odometer on your car, as each section of the odometer reaches 9 and then clicks over to 0, the next number to it starts a new cycle, so that when all the numbers again reach 0 all the way across the odometer - the last number will change from 1 to 2 and the new cycle starts all over again.

There are lots of videos circulating on YouTube about what is happening on December 21, 2012. What captures my attention is this particular video about a Mayan talking about the significance of December 21, 2012. The name of the Mayan is Ac Tah. He gave a talk in Santa Monica last month. According to the video description he is an authentic Mayan and has his own website www.actah2012.com.
There will be a lot of uncertainty, fear and anxiety for sure today and in the next few days but whether the world ends today or not let us always make sure that we make the most out of our lives. In reality, the world might really end for us today or in the next few days for DEATH means end of this physical realm when someone meets that.
