It's official December 26 and January 2 are Holidays
It has been officially declared by Malacanang that December 26, 2016 (Monday) and January 2, 2017 (Tuesday) as special non-working holidays in the Philippines. According to the Office of the President, the declaration was done to give the people full opportunity to celebrate the holidays with their families and loved ones.
Proclamation No. 117 rel;eased Wednesday and signed by acting executive secretary Menardo Guevarra formalized the said declaration.
This holiday declaration in effect gives additional one day free from work since both Christmas and New Year fall on a Sunday.
The proclamation said, “Whereas, a longer weekend promotes domestic tourism and enables employers to plan their work schedules effectively and efficiently, resulting in improved productivity."
