PAGLIPAY Preview - Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino

We are inviting you to patronize and support Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino which will be from August 16 to August 22, 2017 at selected malls nationwide.  One of the movies that will be shown is one from Solar Pictures, PAGLIPAY (International Title: Crossing).  The title of the film is a Sambal Ayta word being used by Aetas when crossing the mountain river going to lowland town in search for alternative source of income.

Paglipay as an Eye Opener

We commonly see Aetas in the lowlands asking for alms and perhaps this film will give us a better perspective of what is really happening.

The narrative opens as we follow Atan’s fulfillment of his arranged marriage with a fellow Aeta, ANI. He has to pay a dowry (bandi) or bride’s price to Ani’s parents. Atan needs to cross the mountain river going to Banwa, the town where he could earn the necessary amount for the bandi however he meets RAIN, student from Manila that would make his life turn upside down.

The film stars Garry Cabalic, Anna Luna, Joan dela Cruz, Norman King, Natasha Cabrera, Gigi Locsin, Joel Saracho, Marinella Sevidal, Kenken Nuyad, Upeng Fernandez with the special participation: JC Santos.

It has a running time of 1 hour and 38 minutes and is released by Universal Harvester Inc. thru Solar Pictures.
